The vines grow on granite about nine miles from the Atlantic, close enough that Gota bottles it under Vinho Verde's Atlantic-coast designation, and the blend leads with Loureiro at 35%, filled out with Pedernã, Trajadura and Azal. Fruit is hand-harvested from dry-farmed vines, then fermented and left on its lees in concrete until bottling — no oak anywhere, which is the point. You keep Vinho Verde's low alcohol and Atlantic bite and gain real weight and salinity.
