It was founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, whose grandfather started the blockbuster Super Tuscan, Sassicaia. The winery has generated lots of excitement about Pinot Noir from South America. Piero farms all of Chacra's vineyards organically and biodynamically, believing that this is the best way to create a healthy ecosystem among his vines. The entry point to Chacra’s Pinot universe, Barda sets the scene for what is to come and the 2024 vintage is the brightest yet, bursting with fresh red cherry, rose petal and dried raspberry. A subtle, saline mineral edge and hint of wild rosemary lend complexity. Crunchy, energetic and thoroughly enjoyable.
