Alvaro Palacios is a pioneer in the modern Spanish winemaking scene, known well for being a key member in the evolution of Priorat, in northeastern Spain, where Grenache dominated blends are typically known for power and richness. With Alvaro, the emphasis shifted to showcase wines with restraint and finesse. His entry level bottling, Camins del Priorat, is a more recent addition and represents his vision of what Priorat should be. At 14.5% alcohol this is superbly balanced with an abundance of red and black berry fruits and a hint of smoke. The alcohol and tannins are wonderfully integrated making this a fantastic wine for those craving something with a little more oomph without being over the top. The 2023 Camins del Priorat is the regional blend from eight villages and 90 different vineyards, produced with 45% Garnacha, 17% Cariñena, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 9% Syrah and 6% white grapes, Garnacha Blanca and Pedro Ximenez.
