Rosso di Montalcino can be thought of as the younger sibling of the famous Brunello di Montalcino. It comes from the same region, is made from the same grape (called Brunello in these parts, but actually a specific clone of Sangiovese) and, because it doesn’t have the same price tag, can be a very good value wine. This is an awesome, super delicious Rosso di Montalcino that drinks more like a Brunello. It can be enjoyed now or in a few years - ripe yet lifted dark red fruit with notes of dried flowers like violets and roses which open up to finely grained tannins and balancing acidity.
