Cuvee Sancerre Rouge "Vieilles Vignes"is made from Pinot Noir grown on old vines of the estate. This is what distinguishes cuvée "Vieilles Vignes" from other red wines of Roger: harvest to highlight the best bunches of grapes that give excellent quality, structure and strength, as well as elegance and refinement. All of these characteristics are transmitted in the wine although the cuvee does not happen with one particular terroir, often it is a mixture of grapes grown on soils with Kimmeridge marl and limestone on a base of Cretaceous and rocky soils, which is famous in the Sancerre AOC. After vinification, consisting of crushing, cold maceration, fermentation for 10-12 days with regular pumping and malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in 300-liter oak barrels 15-18 months. This cuvée boasts an intense, complex nose with scents of red fruit and white spring flowers. The attack is soft, round and fat with lovely freshness on the palate. It shows remarkable length with floral and fruity notes, underscored by a touch of vanilla.
