Nizza is the grand cru of Barbera. Whereas producers in Langhe consign Barbera to their less privileged sites, here in the cooler vineyards of the province of Asti, Barbera is a the star and the star of Nizza is indisputably Sette whos wines convey wonderful energy, purity and freshness. From 35 to 80 year old vines, on limestone and chalk, this has plenty of juicy damson flavour and confit richness but without any weight or jammyness. Very fine, with a long, graceful finish and a thread of bright acidity.
