This is a dead ringer for Burgundian Pinot Noir from 80+ year old vines from a foothill on the eastern side of the appellation. Expressive and light but structured and capable of aging though hard to resist today with its nose of crushed strawberries, wild mushrooms and tart red raspberry. Transparent yet densely layered, truly complex wine in an elegant body. Moulin-a-Vent is one of the ten "crus" of Beaujolais and is renowned for its granite soils. These rocky vineyards express themselves in the wines as a savory, stony minerality and add structure and finesse to the Gamay grape. Louis Boillot has created many collectable Beaujolais that will reward with cellar time. This is incredibly easy drinking and very food friendly.
