Katharina Wechsler’s enviable Rheinhessen vineyard holdings are in what may be today’s most famous dry Riesling area (mostly thanks to local luminaries, Klaus-Peter Keller, and Philipp Wittman).  From the Kirchspiel site, the focus here is on minerality, saltiness and chalky aromas. Some stone fruit and yellow fruit on the nose, but flint also joins in. On the palate with a light creaminess and persistent length. The calcareous soil of Westhofen is really well expressed in this wine. Her vineyards are also certified organic as of their 2021 harvest and she began to implement biodynamic practices in 2020.
