Michel Niellon is a critically well-regarded wine producer based in Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, synonymous with top-flight Chardonnay, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune subregion. He produces a range of labels from the area (including some red wines, from grand cru through to premier cru and village-level wines. 2019 proved a difficult vintage; down 15% due to the difficult flowering, the heat and lack of water. Despite all of these factors, this wine - assembled from ten different parcels - is exceedingly lovely, with ripe citrus and pear aromas, and a bit of spice on the nose, with a texture that is resolutely lively and well balanced, even in the heat of 2019. (Drink between 2024-2039)
