Rippon sits on the shores of Lake Wanaka and has some of Central Otago's oldest vines on their own roots, farmed biodynamically without irrigation. Minimal intervention, wild ferments, schist soils full of quartz and mica—these are precise, layered, mineral wines that taste like the landscape. Six varietals, with Pinot Noir as the headline, made by a family that's been farming this property since 1912. This is New Zealand wine without the noise. A blend of all of the old vine Pinot Noir grown biodynamically at Rippon. This Central Otago Pinot bursts with classic aromas of pomegranate, baking spice, cranberry and exotic tea leaves, and continues on the palate with a cascade of vibrant red fruit balanced by firm acidity. Biodynamically farmed, it's a wonderful example of how great New Zealand Pinot Noir can be from one of the most beautiful vineyards on Earth.
